Intended Audience: Finance officers and other local government professionals involved in financial management.
Description: This workshop will explore internal controls as they relate to the governmental sectors including design and structure, setting up a monitoring system utilizing your boards and department heads, and working with your staff during downsizing and turnover.

• Understanding internal control principles
• Review current systems for local governments and evaluate systems of effectiveness of Internal Controls
• Evaluate internal control systems and identify efficient and effective management through turnover

Lead Instructor: Kelly Zabinski, CPA, Zabinski Consulting Services, Inc.
Kelly Zabinski began her own business over two years ago with a focus on local governments after spending 13 years with other public accounting firms. She works with local governments to improve operational effectiveness within the current structure to minimize additional costs. Kelly is a member of the IGFOA Technical Accounting Review Committee, a GFOA CAFR reviewer and a member of the ICPAS Executive Governmental Committee.

Registration and Cancellation Policy: Registrations are accepted on a first-in, first registered basis. Payment should be mailed in advance or made at the door. IGFOA reserves the right to apply non-member fee to any individual that has not paid dues for the current year.

Cancellations after February 26, 2010 and no-shows are responsible for the full tuition. Substitutions may be made with advanced notice. IGFOA reserves the right to modify the agenda and/or speakers, cancel the training due to low enrollment, or to close registration if full.
