Payroll (Fiscal Assistant II) | Village of Woodridge

The Village of Woodridge is seeking applications for the position of Fiscal Assistant II - Payroll. This position is responsible for all payroll-related duties and reports to the Fiscal Operations Manager within the Finance Department.
Position Responsibilities
- Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for approximately 150 employees; includes careful review of timesheets to ensure accuracy. Understands and adapts to the bi-weekly payroll processing schedule.
- Maintain knowledge of all pertinent state and federal payroll rules and laws, village policies, and union contracts.
- Prepare various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including 941s for Federal and State; unemployment wage reports, and benefit reporting. Prepare and distribute W2s and tax returns annually.
- Maintain all police pension records for both active and retired sworn personnel.
- Submit retiree changes to pension payroll processor; communicate to retirees as needed. Prepare information for Schedule P of the IDOI report.
- Prepare wage statements for worker’s compensation claims. Tracks and records payments workers compensation related payments from IRMA.
- Assist in the year-end audit; providing all payroll-related reports and data; obtain information as requested by the auditors. Prepare annual budget projections for personnel.
- Work with Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) regarding employee retirement reporting, questions, and changes.
- Reconcile certain General Ledger accounts as they pertain to Payroll.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Associate’s Degree with coursework in finance, accounting, or similar and at least two years’ experience in payroll, human resources, finance, and/or accounting processes, preferably in a governmental or non-profit setting; or a combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to work under deadlines; is detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as possess follow-through and time management skills.
- Capable of analyzing processes and/or unique situations and providing useful recommendations to management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of Munis software system preferred.
Salary and Benefit Information
This is a full-time, forty-hour per week position with an excellent benefit package, including health, dental and life insurance, IMRF pension, vacation time, paid holidays and sick days. The full salary range of this position is $59,259 - $85,883. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $59,259 - $70,000.
