Director of Finance | Village of Manhattan

The Village of Manhattan, population of 11,000, located, just south of New Lenox, seeks an experienced municipal finance professional to serve as the Village's Finance Director.  The Village is a home-rule municipality and operates under the Village President-Trustee form of government.

The Village of Manhattan is located within minutes from I-55, I-80, I-57, and I-355.  The Village strives for high-quality residential and commercial development.  Manhattan is one of the fastest growing communities in Illinois.

The leadership team consists of a Village Administrator, Police Chief, Development Director, Finance Director, and Public Works Superintendent.  The Village has approxiamately 35 full-time and 15 part-time employees.

The Finance Director is responsible for the Finance Department, specifically safekeeping of village funds, revenues, expenses, payroll, investments, debt, bonds, and for providing financial consultation to the Mayor, Village Board, and Department Heads.

Qualifications for the Village's Finance Director position include:

  • Three Years Municipal Finance experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Excellent Communication and Financial Analysis skills
  • Management or Supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment

Please note: long-term (one year of longer) interim candidates will be considered.

The starting salary for this position is anticipated to be in the $130,000 to $150,000 range, depending on education, experience, and qualifications.  The Village offers a comprehensive benefit package to all employees.  EOE/ADA
