Event Description
There is much potential for change coming out of Springfield in the world of local government finance. The Legislative Update session will cover important recent and potential legislation from Springfield concerning finance and related topics. Topics include a possible property tax freeze for all units of local government in Illinois, including for the first time, home rule units, and an update on the status of recent pension litigation.
Learning Objectives - Participants completing this session will be able to:
1) Gaining an increased understanding of proposed changes to the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (the Tax Cap Law).
2) Learning about the Constitutional and practical issues associated with Illinois pension reform and the related ongoing litigation.

Registrations are accepted on a first-in, first registered basis. Payments by check should be mailed in advance or made at time of registration by credit card. Payments will not be accepted the day of the event.
IGFOA Members are those Public Sector, Partners, and Firm individuals specifically listed in the IGFOA Membership Application or Renewal. IGFOA Government non-member rate applies to staff, appointed officials, and elected officials of a government with a current IGFOA membership. The IGFOA reserves the right to apply the non-member fee to any individual or government that has not paid dues for the current year. Cancellations after February 5, 2016 and no-shows are responsible for the full tuition.
